Janet Middleton & Vijver Jonck, in conjunction with Plett Tourism, are offering a Social Media & Communications workshop for the tourism community.

Learn how to utilise social media and communications to benefit your business. Keep up with the latest trends and make the algorithms work for you! Join us for sessions on the latest in social media marketing, and tips and tools for a time-saving, effective communication strategy.

In order to get where we want to be, we need to know the direction we’re going to take. Join this trip down the road to communication best practices and social media inspiration picking up exciting new tools and avoiding pitfalls along the way.

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Date: Wednesday, 22 May 2024
Time: 09.30 am 1 pm  (Workshop to start at 10 am)
Venue: Kwendalo
Cost: Free for paid Plett Tourism members. R50 pp for all other members
Materials: Course materials will be provided.

Bring along your tablet or smartphone for the workshop (don’t forget to charge it 😊).

Please note: Have your company logo as an image on your device for practical purposes. You should be able to save this from your Facebook Business profile pic if it’s not readily available.

  • Tea and coffee will be available on arrival. Lunch will be served.
  • Booking is essential –  limited space available.
  • This workshop is free for paid Plett Tourism Members only.

THE WORKSHOP WILL COVER:

Session One: Viyver Jonck of Like Live Link

  • Social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn, Threads and X, with a specific focus on TikTok and short-form video.
  • Tips such as when to post and the frequency of posting on each platform, video length and best performing content
  • Social media ads
  • Tools for video, photo and graphics editing
  • Time-saving tools including Metasuite, Canva and more
  • Valuable lessons learned through trial and error
  • A short Q & A practical session

Session Two: Janet Middleton – Communications Consultant for Plett Tourism

  • Communication for marketing & advertising: who are we talking to, and why?
  • Identifying and sharing newsworthy items
  • Identifying your target markets, segmenting & niche marketing
  • The opportunities and pitfalls of AI-assisted tools
  • Top tips for websites
  • A short Q & A session
